In its first four years, TEAM brought free financial education resources to over 350 schools across Mississippi – in all but eight counties. The program helped 95,000 students engage in 400,000 learning hours and our staff trained 1,400 teachers in personal finance teaching methods.
All of this was at no cost to our schools, teachers, students, or families. It was financed through a public-private partnership with financial institutions and community organizations, and powered through great partners like the Mississippi Council on Economic Education and EverFi.
Our office is pleased to announce that in the 2019-20 School Year, Mississippi will become the 18th state in the country to require financial education for high school students. It was piloted in schools around Mississippi in the 2018-19 School Year and is ready now to be a part of every student’s high school curriculum.
This is an exciting addition to the curriculum for Mississippi schools that will certainly change Mississippi’s financial future one student, one family, one community at a time.
